Lecture 4: Value of Clean Drinking Water

This lecture explained the value of clean drinking water and why it is important for our health. Clean water is water that looks clear, has no bad smell, tastes fresh, and is free from harmful germs or chemicals. It helps our body work well, keeps us healthy, improves thinking, and gives us energy to play and learn. The lesson also described the “water villains” that make water dirty, such as trash and litter, waste from factories, chemicals from farms, germs, and dirt from old or broken pipes. Dirty water can cause diseases like diarrhoea and cholera. Students learned ways to make water clean again, including boiling (to kill germs), filtering (to remove dirt and some germs), and solar disinfection (using sunlight to kill germs). Key terms discussed in the lecture were: clean water, germs, water pollution, water villains, boiling, filtering, filtration, solar disinfection, and diseases.
