Lecture 2-3: Exercise

In Lectures 2,3 of Unit 3 “Women as Role Models”, students practiced oral communication by learning short and long vowel sounds, their functions in reading, spelling, and meaning, with examples like bit/bite and cut/cute. Grammar topics included pronouns (he, she, it, they) and their role in avoiding repetition, and transitional devices such as first, then, however, with activities like writing a paragraph on making tea. Reading comprehension covered questions about Fatima Jinnah, Ruth Pfau, and Arfa Karim, while picture-based exercises taught position words (under, in front of, over). Students also studied spelling practice, nouns with no change (sheep, deer, hair), and action words (run, write, bloom), applying them in picture description. The writing section included filling speech bubbles and a creative writing task on writing a short biography, such as of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, highlighting his role in Pakistan’s nuclear program.
