Lecture 2-3: Diphthongs and Anagrams

In these two lessons, students learned about diphthongs, anagrams, and spelling skills. Diphthongs are vowel combinations that create a single gliding sound, such as AU in “August,” OW in “cow,” OU in “house,” AI in “rain,” and OI in “coin.” Students practiced identifying, completing, and sorting words with these sounds. They also explored anagrams, where letters of a word are rearranged to form new words, such as tea → eat and flow → wolf. Alongside this, the lessons focused on the importance of correct spelling in reading, writing, and communication. Students practiced spelling through different activities, including filling blanks, correcting misspelled words, and using them in sentences like school, teacher, cat, garden, and beautiful. Altogether, these lessons improved vocabulary, pronunciation, word recognition, and writing accuracy.
